Rooted began when three moms with a passion for Jesus and their families knew they were called to teach, train, and grow alongside those who have a vested interest in the spiritual life of their children.  We are growing and being challenged in our faith day by day and by no means have it “together” but strive to please the One who called us. In the meantime we seek to stay rooted and well watered in the One who is, who was and who is to come.

Two out of the three met in a cabin called “Paradise” in Sopchoppy, FL to plan and pray for how God could use us. The idea of this blog was born there. Rooted is for all parents, grandparents and other caregivers to understand the great responsibility we have for the spiritual instruction of the children that have been entrusted to our care.  The spiritual instruction of our children is our responsibility and we must be good stewards of these special gifts God has given us to raise.  In this blog we will look at our calling as parents, our duties as parents, how we are to be the church at home, how we are to help our children understand the things of the church (i.e. the church calendar, the creeds, etc.) and how we can instruct these things in our home.  We came up with the acronym ROOTed and it means we are to be:

R – Rooted in the Word of God so we can teach it to our children (Psalm 1:1-3)

Our theme verses are Deuteronomy 4:4-7 (NIV)

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.  These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.  Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up”
