Catholics believe that sacraments are efficacious signs of God’s grace – essentially God’s grace made visible. I’ve been thinking a lot about this after getting to witness and celebrate my older brother’s wedding this past weekend. I felt God’s presence during their wedding ceremony and exchange of vows and I look forward to witnessing how God’s grace continues to be visible in their marriage.
I’m grateful for how the sacraments give us clear, accessible examples of God’s grace and what that feels like and looks like. This familiarity helps us recognize God’s grace in other places, like in creation. When we partake in or witness the sacraments, I think we are able to be more open to receiving God’s grace in the myriad of ways it’s offered to us everyday.
Today I pray with gratitude for the sacraments, especially for the marriage between Aaron and Allie.
