One of the reasons I’m writing this blog is to help inspire me to create a new digital tool for Catholics to integrate care of creation into their own lives and invite them to strengthen their faith. I believe that there is a need for this sort of tool because people are becoming more aware of climate change and the challenges our current culture of consumerism. Christianity, and specifically catholic social teaching on care of creation, presents a lens through which to understand and approach these challenges and invites us to find God through creation. At a high level, I anticipate that with the growing alarm around climate change and increasing impacts in the years to come, Catholics will want to understand how to approach the problem and potentially, what to do in their own lives. In addition, there are already folks who care deeply about this issue and might be interested in helping invite others to join them and their care of creation efforts.
I’m someone who enjoys creating things and helping find solutions to problems. My goal is to first understand this target audience, how this proposed need resonates with them and then what solution (digital tool, community, service, etc) would help them make the change they already want to make.
The blog is my small start to face the “blank page”, share my own thoughts and journey with care of creation, clarify my thinking, and document my progress with this endeavor. I look forward to your comments, ideas, and any ways you want to share this journey with me.
