Today’s Responsorial Psalm from today’s mass is psalm 40 with the response “Here I am Lord; I come to do your will.” This short phrase packs a punch and applies to so much of our lives.
What stands out to me today is the posture in which we place ourselves before God and His will. It’s about showing up in a way that is open and ready despite not knowing what the future may hold.
This attitude can be translated to care for creation. God asks that we show up with our talents and posture of openness to the ways we can tend the world around us, including the natural world. It is extra challenging to do so when facing a problems like climate change and a culture that encourages consumption, not simplicity. But we are called to say “here I am Lord, I come to do your will.” and let him guide our steps.
