An important aspect of making positive change, both in our own lives and in the community, includes having the right people around you. We work better when others can provide ideas, lead us in the right direction, lend a hand, hold us accountable and cheer us on.
This certainly applies for creation care, especially once we realize how interconnected we are. I’ve had the chance to be a part of my parish’s care of creation team the past two years. It’s been valuable to work with others who have a similar passion for caring for our environment and integrating that with our faith. We can inspire each other to take further actions or learn new ways to appreciate God’s presence in the world around us.
My hope for 2021 is that we can invite more members of our parish community (and beyond) to appreciate and care for our environment in new ways and find God in these pursuits.
