Today’s gospel details the magi’s visit to Jesus, Mary and Joseph in Bethlehem. The magi bring physical gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh and the gospel encourages us to consider what gifts of our own that we can bring to Christ.
As Pope Francis helps us understand in Laudato Si’, everyone is called to care for creation. Everyone’s efforts will look differently depending on their resources and talents, but the need to protect and revitalize our common home is also great and requires the best of what we can offer. We should be as ambitious as the magi who “traversed afar” to find Christ and offer him their physical gifts.
How am I called to care for creation? What particular gifts do I have to offer to respond to this important call?
